Dachshund Diaries – Entry #7 Louie’s Log: “The Great Garden Mystery”

January 13, 2026Craig Harrison

Dear Diary,
Dad was out watering the plants today, so I decided to assist. My job? Dig inspection. I started with the herb garden—smelled promising. Then I found something incredible: a half-buried toy I’d lost last month! I proudly brought it inside, covered in mud and triumph. Dad didn’t seem impressed, but I know deep down he admired my archaeology skills.

Lesson: Dachshunds dig for joy, not mischief. It’s instinct—bred deep from their hunting roots. Instead of scolding, channel it. Give them a “dig zone” filled with toys or sand. Reward digging in the right spot. You’ll save your garden (and your sanity) while letting your little archaeologist live his best life.
